The name

Soot is the black left after pine burns. For centuries Korean calligraphers ground that same pine soot into ink sticks, and every stroke they laid down carried it. The studio takes its name from that pigment: one color, used carefully, expected to last.

The work

Daniel Seong draws fine-line work — botanical lines, script, black-and-grey — each piece a quiet composition drawn for one body and placed like a print in a collection.

Custom pieces are commissioned and drawn before they are ever needled. Flash is drawn once and worn once — when a piece is claimed, it leaves the catalog.

The studio

A private studio — one client at a time, by appointment only. Daniel holds bloodborne-pathogens certification; hygiene is part of the craft, not a footnote. Sessions are unhurried, and aftercare is treated as part of the piece.
